There is nothing as symbolic of the close ties
of Yonder Hill's Naude's with their friends and workers as
the annual ceremony of the blessing of the harvest. It is
a time-honoured occasion, traditionally held each March and
graced as much with humility as it is with joy.
A prayer, simple and sincere, is followed by
the first trampling, in huge barrels, of the ripened berries.
This very moment marks the end of the picking season while
it simultaneously rings in the start, once more, of a new
cycle of harvesting, bringing with it the fresh expectations
and renewed hopes of another productive dawn.
For anything between 18 months and two years,
Nature will from now onwards be allowed to follow her own
methodology, her unwavering and unique course towards complete
perfection of every wine that is formed, once more, on Yonder
Hill. |
